2026 TACCGC Double Ten National Day Golf Tournament

On August 9, the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago (TACCGC) held its 39th Double Ten National Day Cup golf friendship tournament at the scenic Willow Crest Golf Club in Chicago's western suburbs, kicking off a series of National Day celebration activities for the overseas Taiwanese community.

Following the morning check-in, all attending guests gathered for a flag-raising ceremony, singing the national anthem together before taking a group photo. The friendship tournament then teed off, with players grouped into teams of four or five. Competitors made friends through the game while catching up with one another and enjoying the sport, and the round wrapped up after approximately five hours.

Afterward, the chamber hosted a generous luncheon, where President 蘇琪雯 welcomed the attending guests before a gathering of more than one hundred people. She gave a special introduction to blind baseball player 邱文昇 from Taiwan, who has joined the St. Louis Gateway Archers to compete in the 2026 National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) World Series as the only player representing Taiwan. 蘇琪雯 called on everyone to support 邱文昇 and cheer him on, expressing hope that he would achieve outstanding results.

駐芝加哥辦事處 Director General 類延峰 thanked TACCGC for organizing the golf tournament, which celebrated not only Taiwan's Double Ten National Day but also the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. He commended the chamber's efforts to promote Taiwan–U.S. trade and investment, and said he was pleased that the chamber has even larger plans ahead to deepen relations between the two sides. He also shared that Taiwan–U.S. trade has grown by 30 percent recently, a sign of increasingly close ties.

Illinois Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza, Illinois State Representative Regan Deering, and Chicago Alderman David H. Moore also spoke, reaffirming the importance of the friendship between Taiwan and the United States. They noted that exchanges across trade, economics, culture, and education are extremely close and amount to a strategic partnership, and expressed hope for continued positive development, deeper cooperation, and shared prosperity between the two nations.

Medals and prizes were then presented to the top three men's teams and to the winners of several individual awards. The men's champion team consisted of Ben Wu, Larry Wu, David Tong, and Tim Yang, while Natalie Wu took the women's longest drive award. A raffle featuring round-trip Taiwan–U.S. airline tickets and other valuable gifts brought this celebration of both Double Ten and the founding of the United States to a perfect close.

駐芝加哥辦事處 Deputy Consul 楊家豪 and 芝加哥文教中心 Director 雷棋 were also invited to attend the tournament and luncheon. More than 80 people signed up to compete, including mainstream community leaders, chamber members, and members of the overseas Taiwanese community and the Junior Chamber.
