2025 TACCGC Double Ten National Day Golf Tournament

On August 11, the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago (TACCGC) held its 38th Double Ten National Day Cup golf friendship tournament, kicking off a series of National Day celebration activities for the overseas Taiwanese community. Honored guests in attendance included 駐芝加哥辦事處 Director General 類延峰, Deputy Section Chief 黃奕龍, and 芝加哥文教中心 Director 蔡季穎. Also present were Honorary Presidents 姚宏智 and 江秋檳 of the North America Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce; Overseas Community Affairs Advisor 林瑞源; TACCGC Honorary President 吳明冶 and his wife, 章詒遠, 盧建昌, and 李嘉展; Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales; Illinois House Assistant Majority Leader Barbara Hernandez; chamber members; community representatives; and members of the Junior Chamber. More than 70 participants signed up to compete.

After the noon check-in, all of the attending guests gathered at the flagpole to sing the national anthem in salute to the flag and to take a group photo. Chairperson 蘇琪雯 welcomed everyone and thanked them for joining in the celebration, wishing all a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Diego Morales said that Indiana loves Taiwan, stands with Taiwan, and is a close ally of Taiwan. As the first immigrant Secretary of State in the United States, Diego Morales expressed his gratitude to America and noted that, just as the chamber creates jobs and gives back to the U.S. economy, Indiana welcomes the chamber to do business there.

類延峰 said he was honored to take part in the National Day golf event and thanked TACCGC and the office for their collaboration in jointly advancing trade, education, and economic ties, noting that the partnership between the two sides has grown even stronger this year. He said it was an honor to host the Indiana Secretary of State, a strong partner in both security and economic fields who is working to strengthen the relationship between the two sides.

The friendship tournament got underway with players grouped into teams of four or five, teeing off in turn and making their way around the course. Players made friends through the game while catching up with one another, and the round wrapped up after 5 hours.

Afterward, the chamber hosted a lavish dinner banquet, where 蘇琪雯 and 類延峰 presented medals and prizes to the top three teams and to individual award winners. A round-trip Taiwan–U.S. airline ticket and other valuable gifts were also auctioned off, bringing the National Day golf friendship tournament to a perfect close.

This was far more than just a golf tournament. With the chamber's long-standing, dedicated support and its deep roots across the local political and business communities, this golf gathering further elevated relations between Taiwan and the United States on the people-to-people, political, economic, and diplomatic fronts.

Distinguished guests at the dinner banquet included Illinois House "Friends of Taiwan Caucus" member Hoan Huynh (黃凱煥), Illinois State Representative La Shawn Ford, Philippine Consul General in Chicago Melanie Rita B. Diano, and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Director of International Business Development Fanfu Li (李凡夫), among other dignitaries.
